Each of your written assignments must be a minimum of 850-900 words (usually will

amount to 2 ½ pages, or so). They must be typed, double spaced, 12 pt. font, with 1 inch

margins. Put your name and the date in the top, right corner, on the first 2 lines (single

spaced), then double-space, and start your paper. Remember, 5 points will be deducted for

each day the paper is late, and if you did not follow the above directions. Papers are to be

submitted, in hard copy, in class, on the due date.

Here is the question: Are we ‘pathologizing’ everyday life? Does the trend to include more and more disorders in

successive editions of the DSM mean that people who need help are more likely to receive

clinical attention? Or, are we expanding the boundaries of mental disorders to the point where

almost any behavior has the potential to be considered abnormal?
