Learning Activity #3: Ministry Discussion

  • Read at least four examples from the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John) where Jesus engaged individuals one-on-one to give them godly counsel and ultimately healing/deliverance (such as Jesus and the woman at the well (John 4); Jesus and the woman taken in adultery (John 8.)
  • Prepare to discuss two encounters Jesus had with individuals that He healed. Share how the work of the Lord Jesus as a healer can be projected into a counseling context. Be sure to include the following in your discussion:
  • Identify principles and concepts that lie in the biblical text.
  • Share the means and methods that Jesus employed.

Learning Activity #4: Trichotomy of Man Discussion

  • Read the article titled Discovering Your Identity.
  • Prepare to discuss this article and Paul’s writings found in I Thessalonians 5:23. Ensure the following items are included in your thoughts:
  • The holistic portrayal of the human being as a trichotomy.
  • The significance of each trichotomy area (spirit, soul, body).
  • Include the importance of dealing with the trichotomy in the healing process such as in therapy.
