Behaviorism–Five Aspects of Self-Management

Humanities

The authors of our textbook, O’Donnell, Reeve, and Smith (2012), present work by Zimmerman that outlines five aspects of self-management. These are:

  1. Goal setting.
  2. Self-instruction.
  3. Self-monitoring.
  4. Self-evaluation.
  5. Self-consequences (174).

Based on what you have learned from the readings on behavioral learning theory, describe ways that behavioral learning principles, such as positive reinforcement, can be applied to encourage self-management. Next, illustrate your thinking with a personal or professional example of using behavioral learning principles to encourage one of these five specific areas of self-management.
