Writing Task

Using Chiron’s character in Moonlight as a starting point, what arguments can you make about heterosexuality and hyper-masculinity for communities of color? What structures have led to these outcomes? The final essay must be 1500 words, typed, single-spaced, 12 point-font Times New Roman, and one-inch margins. In order to answer the above question you will need to research and use a minimum of 3 sources (2 must be academic sources) Your essay must be in MLA format and have a works-cited page.

As you assess the arguments in our readings and films, you should assess how all of these arguments are in conversation with each other. You’ll have to think critically about all the intersections of oppression in Chiron’s life and construct an argument that shows how these forms of oppression are part of LGBTOIA people’s lived experiences. As you develop your argument make sure that your research fully supports the argument you are making in regards to the impact that a heteronormative patriarchal structure may have on a person who does conform to these standards in our society
