You are responsible for reading and watching the assigned CQ Researcher article and video. I am including file here for recommended reading, “Defeating the Islamic State” and FRONTLINE’s Hunting ISIS and Battle for Iraq recommended video for those of you who are interested in a bit of background on the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). FRONTLINE has produced a series of excellent documentaries regarding the rise of ISIS from Al Qaeda. Please be aware the documentaries are extremely graphic in content. You will not be held responsible for reading or watching the recommended materials.

Questions

Per the CQ Researcher article, the defeat of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria may be determined to be a military victory; but whether radicalized combatants who fought for ISIS (or a similar group) will come back or migrate to other nations is the main concern. Which terrorist organization, based on the reading, warrants the most international resources to combat? Briefly explain your reasoning. (2 points)

After watching the video Road to 911 documentary, The Road to 9/11, in your opinion who is ultimately at fault for the anger felt in the Arab world? Western countries? Arab countries? A little of both? (4 points)

Briefly explain what must be done to fight terrorism today and in the future. Because the ultimate question is if terrorism can ever be defeated. (4 points)
