  • Discuss at least two obstacles to exercising their freedom that freed men and women faced at the end of the Civil War and during Reconstruction.
  • Describe at least two ways that former slaves were able to overcome some of the obstacles and restrictions set up by white southerners after the war and take advantage of their newly found freedom.
