How to respond to a students response

Humanities

The benefit of me developing a portfolio throughout this graduate program. Will allow me to reflect on personal and academic identities as they are completed throughout this program. This will also give me the opportunity to reflect on my capabilities and progress. A portfolio is a great way to highlight my successes as well as exhibit my ability to grow through failures and success.

The portfolio will give me a valuable exercise within myself to assess my weakness and strengths. It will allow me to develop goals for the learning process for completion and success of the program. Rath (2007) discuss finding your strong points by examining your weakness. He also stated that “the aim of almost any learning program is to help us become who we are not (p. 3).”

A portfolio throughout the program will assist me in keeping track of my achievements, goals, and career plans for the future. It will give future teachers or future employers a snapshot of my strengths. Parrott (2009) stated as future leaders we naturally look to our intellect, insights, experience, and ideas to guide us through the future. The bible stated “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV).”

This portfolio will be a strong way to present the consistencies of your personal style and educational achievement. It will give you the opportunity to show your originality, which separate you from others, produces credibility and offers a reminder to yourself and future employers of your outstanding achievement throughout your graduate studies. The personal information that you integrate into your portfolio can greatly replicate your abilities as an individual as well as become a valuable tool in promoting yourself to employers, colleges and universities. A portfolio should not take the place of a resume, but it can emphasize your abilities and what you can offer in your chosen field.
