For each following terms, define what it is, and why was it significant or why were they significant.

The significance should relate to the context of this period/era. Please start off the significance with: “It’s significant because….” . Please keep the verbiage simple and the information concise. The 16th amendment to the U.S. constitution was passed in 1913 to allow federal government to collect income taxes from the american people.It was significant because it provided money for the federal government to finance many progressive reform measures in the progressive era.

The Lusitania

The Lusitania was a British luxury passenger boat, that was sunk by the Germans mistakenly for a war vessel. It sank on May 7th, 1915 and 1,198 people were killed, 128 were Americans. This is significant because it challenged American neutrality, and moved the U.S. on the path of war.
