answer two ques each one short paragraph around 200 words total about unconditional positive regard

Humanities

In Carl Rogers’ theory, the most important childhood experience is to be loved, wholly and unconditionally, however; parents have different styles of raising their children. According to Rogers, a growth-producing parenting style gives the child unconditional positive regard, which means loving the child regardless of his or her behavior, rather than basing parental love on the child’s behavior. This allows the child to explore all his or her potentials. Because Rogers viewed human beings as essentially good, the outcome is the development of a fully functioning person.

  • How practical do you think Rogers’s theory of unconditional positive regard is? How well do you think it could be used in child rearing, especially when teaching appropriate behaviors to young children?
  • How would the lack of this parenting style influence the ways in which an adult would seek out a partner?
