In a nation in which there is unrest and brutality by the rulers, violence is inevitable. “Violence can be seen as symptomatic of the erosion of the government’s effectiveness and legitimacy” (Roskin, et. al., 2014). If there is negotiation and slow change violence may be avoidable.

For a religious faction to become violent it must become fanatical. “For them, the truth that God has revealed is the most important truth there is; therefore, denying or doubting this truth is extremely dangerous, both for nonbelievers, who lack this essential truth, and for believers, who may well be misled by the denials and doubts of nonbelievers. Those who follow the second view insist that divine truth utterly exceeds human understanding, which is in no position to judge it. God reveals things to us precisely because they are truths we would never arrive at by our natural lights. When the omniscient God has spoken, we can only obey” (www.nytimes.com (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.).

Imagine that in this circumstance the rule is being made with an iron fist. This causes a circular cycle. The religious factions feel oppressed and hopeless. “Domestic violence is both deplorable and informative. It tells that not all is going well, that there are certain groups that, out of desperation or conviction, are willing to break the law in order to bring change” (Roskin, et. al., 2014). Ultimately, leading to anger and violence. The rulers become more vicious and unreasonable with these factions. “A government’s first impulse when faced with domestic unrest is to crush it and blame a handful of “radicals and troublemakers” (Roskin, et. al., 2014) Violence is inevitable.

There are many ways this situation could be handled. Very few facts about this situation are available. The fact that diplomacy may be used could prevent violence. The definition of diplomacy is, “skill in handling affairs without arousing hostility (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.” (www.merriam-webster.com (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.). If diplomacy is not used, violence will be inevitable.
